Buffalo Life Sciences Complex
| Buffalo BioSciences works within a network of people and organizations spanning a wide geography that includes New York State (Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and New York City), Southern Ontario (Toronto, Canada) and Great Lakes hubs (such as Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Cleveland). As a result, we can help you take advantage of the resident strengths and various niche aspects of these local markets. We're also a preferred commercialization partner for several public institutions and leverage our proximity to recent investments in research and development infrastructure here in Buffalo:
- Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus - The 100-acre campus made up of the region's premier clinical care, research and medical institutions, has seen more than $200 million in public and private funding. Located in downtown Buffalo, BNMC employs 8,000 people and experiences more than 750,000 annual patient visits.
- Roswell Park Cancer Institute's new $75 million Center for Genetics and Pharmacology provides space for research scientists involved in gene chips, microarray, gene sequencing, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry technologies.
- New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences at the University at Buffalo was recently completed to support facilities for molecular targeting, parallel chemistry, nanotechnology, protein arrays and computational biology. The $52 million Center of Excellence contains programs in bioinformatics, drug design and imaging informatics and houses UB's Center for Computational Research (supercomputer cluster) and Center for Advanced Biomedical & Bioengineering Technologies.
- The new $25 million Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute Structural Biology Research Center will focus on high throughput protein production, high throughput crystallization screening and optimization and x-ray crystallography.
